KÜCHENBAR
2006
bar for plattform #3 exhibition
kunstverein hanover

a kitchen, usually the epicenter of shared flat parties with its climate of familiarity and exuberance, was placed in the entrance hall like a scenery. the archetype was emulated in detail using pieces of bulk waste, a stove, a sink, kitchen equipment, even including self-service from the refrigerator and a volunteer cash box. the installtion overgrew existing furnishings, enclosed columns, and placed itself in front of windows. it occupied the existing situation. as anticipated the ambiance changed the mood of the visitors. in fact they acted like guests in a kitchen
at a private party, while the shift into the context of the kunstverein created a feeling of the extraordinary.
